STDs: Sexually Transmitted Infections

Sexually transmitted infections require careful testing and treatment

At Dr.Paul’s Clinic we provide testing and treatment  for all common Sexually Transmitted Infections, which include,

Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, HIV, Herpes, Chancroid, Public lice, Trichomonas, Condylomata, Mycoplasma, Lymphogranuloma venereum.

Dr.Paul Kattupalli usually orders the following tests based on your signs and symptoms.

Testing for following sexual infections can be done using urine or swabs: 

Neisseria gonorrhoeae – nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT) on urine (preferred for men) or vaginal swabs (preferred for women), urethral swabs, endocervical swabs, rectal and oropharyngeal swabs

Chlamydia trachomatis – NAAT on urine (preferred for men) or vaginal swabs (preferred for women), urethral swabs, endocervical swabs, and rectal swabs.

Trichomonas vaginalis – NAAT on vaginal swabs (preferred) or urine

Testing for the following involves a blood sample:

Syphilis – either a nontreponemal or treponemal test

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) – HBV surface antigen (HBsAg), surface antibody (HBsAb), and core antibody (HBcAb)

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) – HCV antibody

●HIV – HIV antibody and Westernblot

Cost of Testing: If you have health insurance, please call them and verify that they pay for your STI testing. Some of these tests are expensive, so it is our strong recommendation that you call your insurance provider to make sure they pay for your tests.

Treatment:
